Find Your Road And Travel It

We love you Ho Chi Minh City and will be back for a more leisurely time in Vietnam. What an awesome country.

Our trip had taken it’s toll – Thera was not feeling at all well by this stage, the cold she had caught a couple days earlier was in full flow and after making down to a lovely buffet style breakfast, it was back to bed for her! Whilst I wasn’t ill, the flights, bus, boat and general lack of sleep meant

that a couple hours in the sun up at the rooftop pool was a great idea in my book and off I went. There is something very relaxing about a cold beer, sun and a rooftop pool and I whiled away about 3 hours in the sun, watching others come and go. I thought I had

covered myself in sun cream but a couple hours later I realised the simple case was. I hadn’t!! And I would pay for a few days. After a few hours sleep Thera was feeling a little more human so we popped out into town to our bar for a bit of lunch (yummy fresh rice paper rolls) and a couple of Saigon’s to wash them down with – our bar/restaurant was called Sin Viet and is at 138 Bui Vien Street. Check it out for great food and cheap beer and the best view of the crazy street and all that happens on it! We had a quick walk back up to Ben Thanh market to look for gifts etc and came back with some coffee and the coffee makers to go on top of your cup. Thera bought enough rice paper for 6 years worth of rice paper rolls and then back to the rooftop pool to catch the final rays of the afternoon.

We had secured a late check out for a small fee and so were good until 7pm which was ideal. A couple hours watching the sun set on the roof – then a flying visit to the first place we ate when we landed 10 days ago, for what is probably the best Pho in HCMC – we even got to sit in the same place awwwwwwww. It’s called Pho Quynh and is at 323 Duong Pham Ngu Lao. Check it out!

Suitably full we headed back for showers and check out, hopped in a cab and started out trip back to Dubai. It was rather uneventful, although I did end up sitting behind the irish/french couple we met on the boat in Halong bay and we joked that next time we met would have to be on a train as it was the only transport we hadn’t done together!

It was a busy 10 days. It was awesome. It was too much for 10 days. It means we will be going back. We loved it and particularly fell in love with HCMC, which we didn’t think would happen.  Thank you Vietnam. We look forward to next time!
